"In this pulse-pounding Immortals After Dark tale, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole delves into the darkest mysteries and deepest passions of Clan MacRieve. . . .
A BEAST IN TORMENT

Uilleam MacRieve believed he’d laid to rest the ghosts of his boyhood. But when a brutal torture revives those ancient agonies and destroys his Lykae instinct, the proud Scot craves the oblivion of death. Until he finds her—a young human so full of spirit and courage that she pulls him back from the brink.

A BEAUTY IN CHAINS

Seized for the auction block, Chloe Todd is forced to enter a terrifying new world of monsters and lore as a bound slave. When offered up to creatures of the dark, she fears she won’t last the night. Until she’s claimed by him—a wicked immortal with heartbreaking eyes, whose touch sets her blood on fire.

A FULL MOON ON THE RISE

With enemies circling, MacRieve spirits Chloe away to the isolated Highland keep of his youth. But once he takes her to his bed, his sensual mate becomes something more than human, evoking his savage past and testing his sanity. On the cusp of the full moon, can he conquer his worst nightmare to save Chloe…from himself?"

Oh my word! A cliff hanger! What a book. What a very, very HOT book. While it is true that this book follows Ms. Cole's normal recipe for her past books, it is the first one I have read that ended on a cliffhanger. Mind you, the main protagonists got their happily-ever-after, but the brother, Munro, got the cliffhanger and it was a doozy!

The plot was as I said, typical of Ms Cole's writing - a brooding ultra sexy male has been tortured by his enemy, and of coursed his fated mate is his enemies daughter. And to make things even worse she may or may not be mortal (I don't want to spoil this for anyone!). He also has a tortured childhood which will make being with his mate a tad difficult on him.

Chloe is one of the coolest protagonists to come down the pike in many reads. She is a champion soccer player who has just been selected to be part of the Olympic team, when she is kidnapped by some witches and auctioned off to the Lore. Of course, her father is a major bad guy and everyone at the auction know this. And I DO mean majorly bad! But, here comes her fated mate to the rescue! And off they go into the sunset, but it sure isn't going to be all hot sex and cherry tree petals. Oh no!

Ms. Cole is adept at writing character that you would love to be friends with. Her ability at turning out the perfect descriptive passages, the perfect amount of brutality and the sexiest of sex scenes makes her one of the best authors of this genre.

This book had some of the hottest scenes I have seen in a long time, in a mainstream novel. Will or hero has just the right amount of dark brooding and inner-dialog without getting to the point that you would like to put him out of his misery. The heroine Chloe stays strong even though some horrible things will be said and done to her, and I adored her for it.

Ms. Cole wrote the perfect novel, if a little similar in tone to her first book "A Hunger Like No Other".. Excuse me while I go re-read both of these and I really wish I could find myself one of these brawny, sexy, Scottish Lykae?
