Review: Fear in First Gear

Fear in First Gear Fear in First Gear by Karen C Whalen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The last sentence in this book just about says it all -"The shoeaholic tow truck driver". Delaney loves those stilettos and yes, she not only drives a tow truck in the Colorado Rockies, but she solves murders in her spare time!

There are actually three mysteries to be solved -how did Delaney's father die, or rather, who killed him? Will Delaney's best friend's cafe win a prize for best coffee house? And who killed the woman up on the mountain during a whiteout?

This is a charming mystery that features numerous characters and is a compelling book about the importance of friendships and family. It has some romance going for it, too!

There are 6 books ahead of this one, and I may have appreciated this book even more had I known about them and read them.

This is a quick read that had me shocked at the "whodunnit! Perfect for a beach read and book clubs. See if you can figure out the mystery!

DESCRIPTION: "In the midst of a merciless blizzard, shoe-a-holic tow truck driver, Delaney Morran, finds herself in a race against time—and her own sanity. After discovering a dead woman buried in a snow-locked vehicle, she barely escapes an avalanche that obliterates all evidence of her shocking find. Distrust shadows her every move, as the police suspect she hallucinated the whole thing, and friends joke about her "body count." Fueled by guilt and a fierce determination for justice, Delaney plunges into a perilous hunt for the truth. Solving the crime would be a nice I-told-you-so, too. Can she discover the killer before becoming the next victim in this comical who-dun-it?
