Darkwater Lane by Rachel CaineMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I missed the last couple of books, but since they are on Kindle Unlimited, as this one is, I will now re-read the entire series. I also regret hearing that Rachel Caine has passed away, but Carrie Ryan did an excellent job of collaborating on this last book.
This book was so tension-filled that I had to take breaks just to let my heart and thoughts settle down. But this was a fitting conclusion to this series in more ways than one! I swear that at one point, I felt I knew who the murderer was and was very unhappy about it, but thank goodness I was wrong.
Some may lament the end of this series, but I don't think it could have continued much longer without becoming repetitive and clichéd. I was a little disappointed that the epilogue didn't contain more about what the last chapter was about. I can't say more than this or I might spoil the book for you!
An excellent read, and conclusion to a series that thriller lovers will adore. I think this series, or at least part of it, would be great for book clubs-there are a lot of plot twists and relationships that would be interesting to discuss with fellow readers.
