Review: The Mysterious Case of the Missing Crime Writer

The Mysterious Case of the Missing Crime Writer The Mysterious Case of the Missing Crime Writer by Ragnar Jónasson
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I don't know if I would have liked this book more had I read the first two books in this series.  It may also be that the translation of the original didn't hit the mark for some reason, I don't know, but the fact is that though this book was interesting, I always felt as if I were on the outside looking in. I never felt connected to any of the characters.  I also had a bit of difficulty trying to keep track of the many different mysteries going on in this book. There were also several different timelines and apparently a similar crime in the past that may, or may not have something to do with this crime..

Perhaps I am looking at this book through American eyes, and I would have enjoyed it more had I been from Iceland and understood that possibly Icelandic people react differently.

I totally hated that this book ended on such a horrible cliff-hanger. I am wondering if some of these loose ends will be tied up in the next book?

Not bad, but not great!
